FIREMAN'S COVE
(BEACH DIVES)
(SKILL LEVEL: NOVICE TO INTERMEDIATE)

This beach/cove is located just past Jenner at the Sonoma milemarker 23.17. This is primarily a free diving beach for abalone and the walk to the beach is down an extremely steep and fragile trail. The visibility in this cove is usually very murky, as it is adjacent to the Russian River outflow at Jenner. The bright side is that the abalone are very abundant, and usually in water shallower than 15 feet. The proximity of this cove to the Russian River Resort area make it a popular destination to bag some abalone for that "special vacation dinner".

The decision to dive (or not) is your responsibility. Keep diving activities within your training and comfort level. If you feel more training or experience is needed before attempting a dive, don't dive. Know personal limits, skill levels, and abilities of yourself and your dive buddy. Dive Safely and Dive Often!
